    Exceptional

The owner picked us up at the train-stop and brought us back the next day. The place is about a mile walk from the main sites so we took the Heritage Bus Package trip that included the train from Tokyo. The temples are amazing - just when you think you've seen the best, you walk up to one more amazing. We were able to get a private onsen in the hotel with no problem both at night when we arrive and in the morning. The were very therapeutic. Breakfast was delicious.

Family run hotel, made us very welcome and was extremely helpful and knowledgeable about local area and discount travel tickets.

Wonderful hosts in a must visit location. 3 nights only just scratched the surface of a most beautiful place!

The private bath is outstanding. The food also is very very good.

    Very good

The host and family were great. Went out of their way to help us out. We only had the breakfasts but they were terrific and the dinners looked beautiful. Baths were fun. Easy to get to one of the area classic walks out the back door.

Location was just ok. Need to get a bus to go anywhere including in to town however the host drove us into dinner most nights. Busses in early June did not run very frequently.

    Superb

The staff was really nice and very helpful, e.g. the hotel owner gave us tips where to eat & what to visit in Nikko, also drove us back to the train station! The size of the 2-bed-room is adequate, the japanese/western crossover breakfast a delicious start of the day! The hotel`s reservable bath is good for relaxation, after visiting Nikko and it´s sights.

Nice place. I bit difficult to locate if you drive. The sign on the main road is "Villa Revage". The owners are friendly. The room is typical for western style in Japan; E.G. a bit small. There were 3 additional private bathing rooms. One was a typical Japanese bath located on the ground floor in the main building and two others were in a separate adjoining building. The 2 baths in the adjoining unit were, one western Jacuzzi style, and the other was a Japanese rock bath. The high speed wireless internet worked very well. The breakfasts were western style (Japanese idea of western style; fried eggs, salad, yogurt and honey, cabbage soup, and bread). The coffee was fresh ground and included. Hot water and coffee/tea was available in a common area on the second floor.

    Very good

The onsen and dinner is definitely the highlight of the stay

onsen is not natural, just boiled water...The water was little bit too hot so that the guests cannot stay inside for too long.
